I personally would get a bigger mount. Plasmas are heavier than LCD's, and even though the mount is rated for up to 165 lbs, that's only for a 42 inch display.

You're hanging an expensive piece of electronics a few feet in the air. Don't skimp on the mount.

I hang flat panels for a living, among other commercial and residential AV installations. While I personally dislike that style of mount, it will work to hold up the weight of the plasma you're trying to install. The downside to that mount is the fact that there is no side to side adjustment, and you HAVE TO LAG BOLT IT TO A STUD, which will most likely not be exactly where it needs to be. It's tilting mechanism may also not be strong enough for the weight/leverage of the large TV. I'd much rather buy a mount online, one with side to side adjustment and a better tilt mechanism, if you need it to tilt. The MonoPrice mounts are fine, and cheap, I've used many of them.

I also own a AV company, lots of commercial and home AV.. that mount would work fine (i also do not care for that mount), but again will work fine.... We never aim for a stud, if we hit, we hit, if not, its no big deal.. Just center the mount where you want it.. We use commercial Hilti togglers, and have hung items 10x the weight.. The Hilti's spread the weight and are good for 150bs sq. inch... they are not cheap (buy by the box), but i can do an install in a 1/4 the time as the avg. installer, and will have a perfect center every time, with no adjustment needed left to right.. Ive seen some togglers on the market the past few yrs. that are generic remakes of the original Hilti, but have never used them, but sure they are just as fine.. good luck with your install.

I am sure, that you are wrong. He most definitely did *NOT* use drywall screws he used the pieces you advised. Drywall = not structural.

You can tell me all you want that it aint falling, I am telling you that it did.

Im telling you it WONT fall, earthquake or not , UNLESS the whole damn wall came down.... your not going to tell me my profession... the only reason it would come off the wall, is if the wall FELL down, OR more likely he didnt INSTALL the security bars or latches that came with the mount.. Im telling you that for a FACT.. so he probably is a simple homeowner, not a actual installer, and didnt do the security latches/bars, because most homeowners think its a pain in the ass and DONT do it.. His mistake!!! Look at the bright side, he got a new TV whether he liked it or not

lol, dude has more skill in his pinky than you probably have in your fifteen years of hooking up televisions.

Anyways, this discussion is below me, if the expertise you've gained putting t,v's on walls is your great accomplishment over the past fifteen years, I'll just let you have it, because you need it and I don't

I can see ALL that skill... I mean his TV fell off the wall, LOL and try 17 yrs, and with more certs than you have ass hairs
